Dynamics 365 Team Member Unable to make connections between entities

Hi Everyone,

Today i am going to share my experience with the Team Member User in Dynamics 365.

Scenario:
Team Member unable to make connections between contacts and accounts primary contact.

How to resolve this issue:

Lets gets started..

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Team Member License will have restricted access according to the Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide.

Here is the links for reference:
https://mbs.microsoft.com/Files/public/365/Dynamics365LicensingGuide.pdf

In order to resolve this problem..

System Administrator need to look at the security role of the team member.
The Relationship role needs to have organisation level access to the team member..
Make sure the Team Member can have Read and Assign access to the Account entity also the same level of access to the contact entity.
Finally the Team Member can create “Connection” between the records on Dynamics 365..
I hope this helps.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 User Inactivity and last logged in

Hi Everyone,

Today i am going to share useful information around the users activity and when was the user last logged in and inactive users.

How to find out the User Audit logs from the Dynamics 365?

With Advanced Find View we can see who the users are enabled and which license type the user is assigned on the Dynamics 365.

But how can we find the detailed login information and activity of the user?
1) You can see the Audit Log Summary on the Dynamics 365.
But getting the detailed activity from Audit log file is time consuming and needs some custom development to export the log file and filter by the users on the excel sheet.
2) XRMTOOLBOX:
There is a too inside the XRMTOOLBOX which we all know is dedicated to the  community by MVP Jonas Rapp.
Xrmtoolbox have number of free tools, one of them is the User Audit Viewer by Deepak Battini.
With this tool we can get the all the users activities like inactive users and active users, when was the last time the user logged in  from the “User Audit Viewer” tool..
As you all know how to connect to your Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Application and start verifying the user activity.

I hope this helps.

Dynamics 365 One Tenant and Multiple Instances access

Hello Everyone,

Today i am going to share quick tip on how to access One Tenant and  Multiple Instances Scenario.

Suppose we have Contoso tenant and there are Fabrikam and Rezet instances.

If the Fabrikam system administrator needs to support another instance i.e Rezet Instance then simply include the Fakrikam user in the “Domain Admin User” Group and all other security groups in which Rezet and Fabrikam  are part of the groups.

I hope this helps.

Dynamics 365 hide notes pane labels

Hi Everyone,

Today i am going to share quick tip on how to hide the Notes Pane labels on all the entities..

For example Opportunity record have the “Opportunity Information”, Opportunity details, social pane, and “Notes Pane”.

If there is a requirement to hide the unwanted the labels on the “Notes Pane” then you can achieve this as follows:

Open the Opportunity form and double click on the Notes Pane Section on the Opportunity form.

when you double click on the Notes Pane you will see pop up:
As you can see “Filter by” area you can select the “Show Selected” then you can choose according to your choice.
In this example i have selected only Activities and Notes.
Open the Opportunity and you can see only see the Activities and Notes.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Team Member License Security boundary accessing Application

Hi Everyone,

As we know Microsoft Dynamics 365 Team Member License is a light weight license to give access to the users of an organisation who are less exposed to the full functionality of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement or Unified Operations.

There are two types of the Licenses:
1. Full Access to the Microsoft Dynamics 365
2. Team Member License(Partial access)

Let’s take a scenario

User should be capable of accessing Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE limiting the user only to create “Contact”, “Activities” refer to the below image:

So Team Member License is used restricting the users from creating new records like Account, Opportunity and all other entities, refer to below image..
But Microsoft have given an Opportunity to the customers to buy the “Team Member” License for reasonable cost i.e £6.00 per month.
Customers don’t know how to use this “Team Member” License more efficiently..

As some of the customers complaining about the Team Member License restriction functionality, please continue reading..

Why ?

Some of the customers are using the Team Member License as  Full Dynamics 365 User, how ?
Because Microsoft haven’t restricted the users from accessing the Full Dynamics 365 where Customer needs to build security around the Team Member with new Security role along with Guideline from the Dynamics365LicensingGuide document.
Customers can use Team Member License as full user license but this will violate Microsoft Legal Compliance.

Solution: Build brand new security role around the Team Member license and assign it to the user then the user will have the restriction as mentioned in the Dynamics365LicensingGuide.

For more information please refer to the Microsoft Documentation.
I hope this helps
